Rann Ride


  • A never to be forgotten ride, this is for the confident motor biker. The ride is a combination of short and long rides on days, passing through backroads, state and national highways of Gujarat. There is a myriad of experiences awaiting you to soak into. From the bustling city of Ahmedabad, to the dry parched tracts of the Little Rann. From the white salt expanses of Kutch to the extreme west end by the sea at Narayan Sarovar. This ride takes you through the rather arid part of Kutch through farmlands, villages, forts, archaeological sites of remains of the Indus Valley Civilization, salt pans and forests. You also get to interact with local village people and seeing local folk dance and music. The highlight also includes a close encounter with the Asiatic Wild Ass, only to be found in this part of the world. Kutch has a history steeped in pre historic times.

    Local wildlife that you may encounter on the ride are Chinkara Antilope, Desert Fox, Nilgai (largest Indian antelope). Birdlife is plenty.

  • The ride takes place in Kutch, a district in the western Indian state of Gujarat. It is also the largest district of India. In the west, the district is surrounded by the Gulf of Kutch and Arabian Sea. From the north to the east, the region is divided into the Grater and the Little Rann.

    The Rann of Kutch is unique and comprises of shallow wetlands which are submerged during the rainy season and become dry during other seasons. During the dry seasons, the marshy salt flats presents itself in a show white avatar, which is a sight never to be missed.

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Ahmedabad. Check in to the hotel. Meet your ride lead who will brief you on the ride policy, security aspects, rules and expectations. You will be handed over your motorcycles following verification of license, identity and personal insurance documentation. If time permits, a quick tour of Ahmedabad City can be arranged.

    Day 2 - Post early breakfast, ride to Dasada (Little Rann) and check into your accommodation at the resort. Here your guide will brief you about the ecology, geography, culture, people, wildlife and birdlife of the little Rann. Post lunch, head out on a jeep safari into the Little Rann Wild Ass Sanctuary. Overnight in camp.

    Day 3 - Early morning starts with breakfast before Sunrise and drive to enjoy the moments at the Little Rann Wild Ass Sanctuaty. The morning provides good opportunity for photographers to capture some quality moments against a beautiful sunrise. Visit a local salt producer and get to see and experience the age old methods of manual salt cultivation. This will be a humbling experience for many. Return to the resort. Have an early lunch and head out towards Dholavira island. This will be a longish ride. There will be good number of breaks to make the ride comfortable. By the evening, arrive in Dholavira and check in to your resort rooms. Be surprised too.

    Day 4 - Early morning ride to the White Rann, once again for a stunning Sunrise against the backdrop of vast salt plains. Visit the Fossil Park. Return to the resort for breakfast. Post breakfast, take your time to freshen up and then head for your brushing with history at the ruins of Indus Valley Civilization, the earliest civilization known to mankind. This is a truly mesmerizing experience. Return to the resort for a well-deserved lunch. Take a break, take a nap. Late afternoon, ride to a local village household by the banks of white rann. Dinner is at the household with local music around camp fire. Return to resort for a good night sleep.

    Day 5 - Post breakfast, ride to Hodka. The ride will take you on and off along the White Rann. Arrive at your resort by the afternoon. Enjoy the sights and flavors of the Kutch traditional life, food and music. Night at the resort.

    Day 6 - Post breakfast, ride to Narayan Sarovar. Visit the temples around the sea point. You are welcome to take photos, but following strict instructions and restrictions as this is a military site. After spending some quality time, start your ride towards Bhuj. Lunch en route. Arrive in Bhuj and have the rest of the day at your avail after checking into your hotel.

    Day 7 - Post breakfast, visit the Royal Palace and monuments. Shop or just stroll the old quarters of the town. Post lunch, visit Bhuj Fort. End the day with a Gala Dinner and savour the moments from your ride from the start with your fellow riders. Exchange contacts for a lifelong friendships. Overnight in hotel.

    Day 8 - Post breakfast, ride to Ahmedabad. Lunch en route. Take your onward flights or trains to your next destinations / home, bidding adieu.

  • Accommodation on the ride is a combination of resort and hotel stays with comfortable rooms and amenities.

  • During your stay in the resort and hotel properties, food will be as served in the menu options available at the hotel. This includes a good selection of Indian and continental food.Most of the lunch will be while on the ride and will be packed food or preselected restaurants. Apologies - no Beef or Game Meat is served.

    Gujarat is an alcohol free state. Pre licensed arrangements will have to be made, should you still like to have alcoholic drinks.

  • The ride is open from October to February and can accommodate flexible dates as per your request.
